Alchemist TD released

A long time ago I encountered a game called Gem Tower Defense. It still exists, you can try it here:

Gem TD is based on a WarCraft III mod that was also not created by me. I liked both of these very much and decided to create a similar game that was called Alchemist TD. On towerdefence.net there was a forum and a lot of people was talking about it at that time. We had championships and discussed things about balance and further development plans. This was written in jgame and with Applet technology. It was my first java project. There were classes with over 500 lines in it and lots of static fields :) So after a while I started working with LibGDX and abandoned Alchemist TD.

And about a few weeks ago I decided to resurrect this project and re-created it in LibGDX.

You can play it in browser. Android version and possibly as a download executable for Windows will come later.

The main idea is that you get 5 gems each round. Keep one, the others will turn to rock. Use the rocks to build a maze to prolong the time the monsters spend walking and taking hits.  

For gold you can upgrade your chances to get better gems. And with better gems you can create "special" gems that have abilities like stun, poison or start fires. The monsters can be different: fast, mob (less HP - more headcount), boss, flying.

You can combine gems by drag-and-dropping two of the same type together.

The monsters have to touch 6 waypoints before going to attack your mage. You can build a long maze but cannot block their path entirely (because it is more interesting this way :)).

Later on I plan to add more special gems, more maps to play on with different tiles and waypoints. Also more monster types like regenerating, egg-laying and teleporting.
